Exquisite and Rare Pair of Dino Martens Murano Glass Lamps Italy
1952-54
Gorgeous pair of murano lamps designed by one of the masters of hand blown glass design in 1950's Venice. This technique Dino Martens called "fasce blanco / nero" which translates to "black and white bands" was a specialty he created and was also referred to as "filigree and 1/2 filigree". Bands of copper combined with lines of aventurine were added to the glass during the blowing process and the final result was revolutionary at the time. These lamps are ribbed to the eye and to the touch. They are mounted on round nickel silvered bases which have a ribbed banding around the center perimeter. Newly rewired and cleaned. They have interior fractures which are not compromising the glass but are visible in the back only. Sold exclusively as a pair as is. See newly reduced price.
